Earlier this month (May 2020), CMS released two new deficiency F-Tags for COVID-19 (F-884 & F-885). These F-Tags relate to the timely reporting of COVID-19 infections to the CDC, and the proper notification of new infections to the residents, representatives, and family members.

It is important to understand these F-Tags to properly implement the appropriate protocols in order to avoid these deficiencies, as they can result to a level ‘F’ deficiency and civil monetary penalties (up to $4,500 per day!).
